Procedure to recover from a forgotten password for the Acme 6300 SBC

 To clear a lost / forgotten password for a Acme Packet 6300

Solution

 1) Download a diag boot file, for example the nnCZ_diags109 , then upload file: nnCZ_diags109 to SBC: /boot/diags/

The diags can be found in the patch portal under patch id : 18819420: Acme Packet 6300 Diags V1.09

2) Replace the boot file with /boot/diags/nnCZ_diags109 as following. Remember the original boot file since you need to change it back after reset password.

SBC-6300-1(configure)# bootparam      

'.' = clear field;  '-' = go to previous field;  q = quit

Boot File               : /boot/nnSCZ712m2p4.64.bz /boot/diags/nnCZ_diags109  <====
IP Address              : 1.2.3.4
VLAN                    :

3) Then reboot your SBC, and it will enter diags mode as follows:
Example:

diag_fld > password reset

Are You Sure You Want To Reset Passwords?
Confirm [y/n]: y

Password Reset Complete!
diag_fld >

4) Reboot and then change boot file back to the original one in the bootparam during the reboot(press "space" to stop rebooting and then change the bootparam).
