For the FS1-2, the Automatic Service Request capability is based on the Call-Home function to transport the periodic or event driven logs which generate the service request.
When performing maintenance or upgrades to the FS1-2, an administrator account can temporarily disable the Callhome function to prevent the event generated logs from creating additional MOS Service Requests.

Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

For the FS1-2, the Automatic Service Request (ASR) capability is based on the Call-Home function to transport the periodic or event-generated logs, which then generate the Service Request in My Oracle Support (MOS).

When performing maintenance or upgrades to the FS1-2, an administrator account should temporarily disable the Call-Home function to prevent the event-generated logs from creating additional MOS Service Requests. Disabling Call-Home at the FS1-2 System Manager GUI is a faster alternative to disabling ASR generation in MOS.

Solution

IMPORTANT: Remember to enable the Call-Home function at the end of any maintenance. This will insure that MOS Service Requests are automatically generated for the appropriate events.

The Call-Home function is enabled and disabled on the Networking screen in the GUI.  Release 6 allows an administrator account to disable event-driven Call-Home separately from the standard periodic Call-Home.

  1. Log into the Oracle FS System Manager GUI with an administrator account.
  2. From the System tab, expand Global Settings and select Networking.
  3. Bring up the Modify Network Settings screen by one of these 3 options:
    1. From the Menu Bar, select the Actions pull-down and then Modify.
    2. Right click in the Networking section of the screen and select Modify Network Settings.
    3. Type CTRL+M from your keyboard.

      R6 Network Setup

  4. On the Modify Network Settings screen, select the Notification tab at the top.
  5. On the Notification screen, go the Call-Home Triggering section, and remove the check mark from the Enable event triggered Call-Home

    R6 Call Home Enable/Disable

  6. Do not make any other changes!
  7. Press OK to save the change.

After the maintenance activity is complete, enable the event triggered Call-Home:

  1. Go to the System tab, then to Global Settings and select Networking.
  2. Use one of the three methods above to return to the Modify Network Settings screen.
  3. Select Notification on the Network Settings screen, and place a check in the Enable event triggered Call-Home option box.
  4. Press OK to save the change.
  5. There are two ways to initiate a Test Call-Home:
    1. From the Menu Bar, select the Actions pull-down and then Test Call-Home.
    2. Right click in the Networking screen and select Test Call-Home.

  6. Use the Event Log (under Alerts and Events) to monitor a successful Call-Home.
