DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?: VLE Trained, Solaris skills
   TIME ESTIMATE: 60 Minutes
   TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
PROBLEM OVERVIEW: How to collect VLE support file bundle files for sending to VLE support for remote troubleshooting.

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?: Must be able to log into the VLE server Solaris command lineand CAM must be running.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

Use putty or ssh program of your choice.

Log into the system as user: vleadmin and password 0racle! or on systems running 1.3 and below use user: vleadmin and password: vleadmin

Determine version running on system:

vleadmin@SVCVLE02:~$ pkginfo -x SUNWvle
SUNWvle  Sun Virtual Library Extension Software
         (i386,sparc) Release 1.4.2 Revision 27785

To Generate a Support File Bundle (SFB) using manual ASR do the following:

For version 1.4 and higher, log into the VLE and from the terminal, enter the below 2 commands:

sudo /opt/SUNWsefms/bin/ManualASR
sudo /opt/SUNWsefms/bin/rasagent

Example:
vleadmin@SVCVLE02:~$ sudo /opt/SUNWsefms/bin/ManualASR
vleadmin@SVCVLE02:~$ sudo /opt/SUNWsefms/bin/rasagent
Monitoring device SVCVLE02
No target baseline info available for SVCVLE02
No events created for SVCVLE02
Creating health messages for SVCVLE02
Saving SVCVLE02 data...
Finished saving SVCVLE02 data.

Monitoring device 1209FMD049
....
<SNIP>
....
Finished saving SVCVLE02_vle data.

Task completed successfully.
vleadmin@SVCVLE02:/var/opt/StatusService/output/archive$

Once the above commands are executed it can take up to 10 minutes for the Support File Bundle (SFB) to be created.

The finished SFB will be located in the following directory on the system.
/var/opt/StatusService/output/archive

Use the below command to locate and find your file, then copy the file from the system using winscp or filezilla.

Example:

vleadmin@SVCVLE02:~$ ls -ltrh /var/opt/StatusService/output/archive
<SNIP>
-rwxr-xr-x   1 vleadmin staff       679K Oct 23 00:04 AK00039802-SVCVLE02-2014.10.23_00.00.01.tar.bz2
-rwxr-xr-x   1 vleadmin staff       691K Oct 24 00:04 AK00039802-SVCVLE02-2014.10.24_00.00.01.tar.bz2
-rwxrw-rw-   1 vleadmin staff        447 Oct 24 13:43 SupportFileCollection_test_msg.txt
-rwxrw-rw-   1 vleadmin staff        385 Oct 24 13:43 SupportFileCollection_msg.txt

In this example the SFB that was just created is AK00039802-SVCVLE02-2014.10.24_00.00.01.tar.bz2.

Using the ls -ltrh lists the files in reverse time and the latest SFB will be in the bottom of the output.

This file should be uploaded to the SR, you can follow How to Upload Files to Oracle Support (Doc ID 1547088.2)

For version 1.3 and below, log into the VLE and from the terminal, enter the below 2 commands:

pfexec /opt/SUNWsefms/bin/ManualASR
pfexec /opt/SUNWsefms/bin/rasagent
The resulting file will be located in the following directory.
"/opt/SUNWexplo/output/archive/SystemStatus-yyyy.mm.dd_hh.mm.ss/"
Once the SFB is created you can follow How to Upload Files to Oracle Support (Doc ID 1547088.2 to upload to the SR.
Note – For multi-node VLE systems (VLE 1.1 and higher), when the ManualASR and rasagent commands are executed, manual ASRs and corresponding support file bundles are generated only from the node within the VLE that the commands are executed on.
