Update - June 29, 2016
SL3000 Microcode Recommendations - SL3000 FRS-4.40 code was released, factory implemented and is now posted on the SAC ( https://sac.us.oracle.com/download/index.html ). The release notes are attached. Please review Item "1" in the "SL8500 & SL3000 Common Library" section above for additional details.
There are many changes in FRS-4.40 over FRS-4.32. Below are the areas with changes. Please review the attached Release Notes for details.
Product Enhancements
General Enhancements
CLI Enhancements
Drive Controller Enhancements
Kernel Enhancements
SNMP Enhancements
PUK Card integrity scan
RoHS 2016 Card Support (HBB2, HBCR2, HBT2, PUX2)
Recommendations:
Due to the impending release of the RoHS 2016 hardware, we are encouraging the installation of FRS-4.40. This is for any routine reliability upgrade in addition to new feature support.
Install this code in all new installations
Install this code to support any required feature that is not in the currently installed code version
Install this code if planning to install FRS-4.31/4.32 to resolve any issue addressed in that code.
Note ! When installing FRS-4.40, please execute the "hbk scan" command from the CLI. It will verify the integrity of the PUK configuration card. Please report the results of this output to richard.kent@oracle.com with the relevant serial number. The command uses "hbk" for both the SL3000 and the future SL8500 code that will support this command. The output should look like the following:
SL3000> hbk scan
requestId
requestId 22001
Status ID card on HBK
Success Scanned ID card without error
Done
Failure Count 0
Success Count 1
COMPLETED
SL3000>
Additional Notes:
As always... Before upgrading to any code you must verify that ALL prerequisites are satisfied as listed in the appropriate release notes
Be aware of ACSLS version requirements and the possibility the current server is inadequate to run the required updated version of ACSLS
Review MOS KB documents before upgrading to 4.x codes if coming from 3.0x codes -
SL3000/SL8500 - Possible ILC Permanently Disabled Going From 3.0 to 3.61 / 7.0x to 7.70 Firmware (Doc ID 1447375.1)
SL8500/SL3000 - Network Configuration Impacts During Upgrades to 3.60, 3.61 or 7.70 Codes (Doc ID 1431626.1)
Upgrading from FRS-3.xx code to FRS-4.40 code can be done directly. You do not need to go through any other version.
If using autoclean the feature will be disabled after loading this code. To re-enable the feature you need to use the CLI per KB 1321684.1
a). Use the CLI to enable Auto Clean for Partition "0" (as this is a non-Partitioned library) using the following command:
SL3000> partition autoClean set '0-enable'
The single quotes are required in the command. See the complete command syntax by entering "help partition" at the CLI prompt.
b). To display the cleaning status, enter the following CLI command that will display all configured features for all partitions, including Partition-0 for a non-partitioned library:
SL3000> partition attribute status *
If using autoclean, record the volsers and usage of the clean cartridges prior to the upgrade in case this data is lost.
If the cleaning data is lost, the library will set the use of the cartridges to 0 but will stop using a cartridge if the drive reports the cartridge expired. The library will then change the status to expired.
FRS-4.40 code REQUIRES SLConsole FRS-6.65. Please install this level or higher on your laptop and OP Panel before proceeding.
ACSLS 7.3.1 supports all current code. The "7.3.1+" and "8.0.2+" references in the code notes means that "7.3.1 or higher" or "8.0.2 or higher" software is required.

New build machines starting at S/N 571000201820 are being shipped with FRS-4.32 microcode. This code is only required if IBM LTO-7 transports are installed.
Enhancements in FRS-4.32 over FRS-4.31:
IBM LTO-7 support
Issues Addressed:
None
Recommendations:
Install this code in all new installations
Install this code to support any required feature that is not in the currently installed code version

================================================================================================================
SL3000 FRS-4.31 code was released and is now posted on the SAC ( https://sac.us.oracle.com/download/index.html ).
Some enhancements of FRS-4.31 over FRS-4.30:
- "log snapshot SLC" command added. This command retrieves the logs from the local SLC and all HBCs found .Available to users: root, advsrv, mfg, eng, remote, service and test.
- Corrected the issue with drive bays discovering ADI drives after multiple drive insertions or drive reboots.
- The tape insertion velocity used by the hand for HP drives has been reduced to lower the risk of breaking the drive bezels. (fix will also be in SL8500 FRS-8.36 when released next month).
Recommendations:
- Install this code in all new installations.
- Install this code to support any feature not in a currently installed code version.
- Install this code to support AEMs if running 4.0.
- If code FRS-4.30 was installed.
- All other sites should consider this version approved for all configurations and current features but lacking field exposure. As such this code is optional at this time.
Notes:
- As always... Before upgrading to any code you must verify that ALL prerequisites are satisfied as listed in the appropriate release notes.
- Be aware of ACSLS version requirements and the possibility the current server is inadequate to run the required updated version of ACSLS.
- Review ISP documents before upgrading to 8.x codes if coming from 7.0x code -
- SL8500 - Possible ILC Permanently Disabled Going From 7.0x to 7.70 [Doc ID 1447375.1]
