Applies to:

LTO Tape Drive - Version All Versions and later
StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library - Version All Versions and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

The problem is when you configure the SL150 library you get this message from configurator:
Warning: Oracle's SAS-2 HBAs are currently qualified with Windows and Linux backup environments. The SAS-2 HBAs are not supported for customers running Solaris and a backup application.

I know there was the problem with Solaris and SAS-2 HBA but I thought it was solved.

The true is that the information in Tape Interop Tool is: Only Solaris on x86 platform is supported with Networker and SL150 (SAS-2 drives)

Goal

SL150/SAS-2 LTO - Compatibility With Solaris (SPARC) + Networker

Is Networker 7.6.3.4 (Solaris 10 on SPARC) supported with SL150 library (SAS-2 LTO drives)?

Solution

Review the SAS2 FAQ document available in the LTO tape drive my.oracle product page : http://my.oracle.com/site/pd/sss/storage/tape/cnt2219854.html  . You have the latest information and what is working but for the drive only (Networker has been updated and can use a SAS2 drive with the right networker level) ; direct link to the document : http://my.oracle.com/site/pd/sss/cnt1568041.pdf.

The support of the drive has been solved, doesn't mean that the the SL150/SAS managed directly has been certified by the ISV. So if tapeinterop tool says that SL150-SAS is not supported it is certainly because EMC networker Lab has not yet certified the SL150/SAS.
The latest Networker compatibility matrix includes the support of SL150/LTO6 SAS.  Refer to the attached file.
