Solution

 DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:(IS A SITE ENGINEER AVAILABLE?)
Netra CT900 product training or field experience with other CMT servers.

Time Estimate: 60 minutes

Task Complexity: 0

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Blade related failure

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown using "[clia] deactivate" command from ShMM.  The blud LED (How-Swap) should be light up and solid.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

0) Preparation --- performed by customer

1. Able to upgrade/downgrade SysFW to a desired level

1) Remove Blade

0.  Verify that you have taken the necessary antistatic precautions
1.  Disconnect all cables connecting to front panel if any
1a. Label and make sure cable could be restored properly
2.  Unscrew top and buttom locking screws
3.  Slid UP buttom latch and pull it out slightly
3a. Make sure blue LED (Hot-Swap) is light up and solid before proceed to next step
4.  Slighly open up top latch
5.  Hold onto both top and bottom latches and open them fully
5a. Blade should be disengaged with backplane and slided out about approx. one inch
6.  Pull out entire blade

2) Staging Blade

0.  Verify that you have taken the necessary antistatic precautions
1.  Move AMC card from pulled-out blade to new one if any
2.  Move CF card from pulled-out blade to new one if any
3.  Move DIMMs from pulled-out blade to new one

3) Install Blade

0.  Verify that you have taken necessary antistatic precautions
1.  Opening injector/ejector latches
2.  Carefully align edges of blade with card guides in appropriate slot
3.  Taking care to keep blade aligned in guides, slide blade in until injector/ejector latches engage card cage
4.  Push blade slightly into midplane connectors, and then close latches to seat blade in connectors
5.  Tighten the locking screws to ensure blade is secured into shelf
6.  Connect the cables back to the front panel

4) Post Install Checks

0.  Verify that you have taken necessary antistatic precautions
1.  Verify RTM/ARTM is firmly seated to re-installed blade (if applicable)


OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE


WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
1.  Upgrade/Downgrade SysFW to desired level
2.  Follow steps in "Users Guide" of the CP3x0 blade to boot up the blade
