GoalSL3000 - How to Remove and Replace the PUM card. SolutionDISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
Refer to the SL3000 Service Manual for complete details on Removal/Replacement of the PUM card. It will provide important Notes, Warnings and Pictures that will assist in the replacement of this component. http://download-adc.oracle.com/archive/cd_ns/E22211_10/en/E20911/E20911_09.pdf The PUM card is the mother board for the HBCR, HBT, PUN, PUK cards, and, if your library controls side interface is Fibre Channel, the PMU2 or PUA card. PUM Removal: 1. Have the operator issue the command to take the library offline. 2. In the base module, turn OFF the electronics module assembly switch. If you have the redundant power feature, also turn OFF the second power switch. 3. Turn the PDU circuit breaker to the OFF position (if you have a 2N configuration, turn off both PDU circuit breakers). 4. If your library contains a drive expansion module, turn the PDU circuit breaker to the Off position (if you have a 2N configuration, turn off both PDU circuit breakers). 5. Loosen the 2 green thumb screws on the electronic module assembly cover plate. 6. Tilt the cover plate at the top and lift out the tray. 7. If your library contains a drive expansion module, begin at the center, right side (next to the Ethernet jacks housing) of the PUM card and disconnect the following cables in this order: a. J203 (drive power supply controls from the drive expansion module's PUF card). b. J229 (TTI from drives 49-56) c. J228 (TTI from drives 41-48) d. J227 (TTI from drives 33-40) e. J226 (TTI from drives 25-32) 8. For the TTI signal cables from the base module, disconnect the following cables: a. J225 (TTI from drives 17-24) b. J224 (TTI from drives 9-16) c. J223 (TTI from drives 1-8) 9. You must now disconnect cables from the PUN card (illustrated in Figure 1-55). Disconnect the cables listed in Table 1-6. 10. After removing the connectors, remove the 2 T15 screws that attach the card bracket to the frame. 11. Slide out the card from the position within the lance punches (1) shown in Figure 1-56). 12. At the far, left of the PUM card, disconnect the cables listed in Table-1-7. 13. Remove the 4 T15 screws that attach the electronics module assembly to the frame. 14. Carefully move the disconnected cables on both sides away from the electronics module assembly's frame. 15. Slowly and carefully slide out the electronics module assembly. 16. Place the electronics modules assembly on a table. 17. Locate the PUK card (1) shown in Figure 1-57). 18. Remove the 3 T8 screws (1) in the upper portion of Figure 1-57 that attach the PUK card to the PUM motherboard. 19. Pull out the PUK card from the standoffs (1) shown in the lower portion of Figure 1-57 and its connector (2) and place it on an antistatic surface, safely away from your work area. 20. Turn over the electronics module assembly frame to reveal the rear portion of the PUM card. 21. Remove the 20 screws that attach the PUM card to the electronics module assembly surface. 22. Remove the PUM card from the electronics module assembly frame and place it on an antistatic surface. PUM Replacement 1. Following ESD procedures, remove the replacement PUM card from its antistatic bag. 2. Carefully align the card with its screw holes in the electronics module assembly frame. 3. Insert - but do not tighten - the 20 screws that attach the PUM card to the electronics module assembly frame. 4. Check for correct card alignment, then tighten the 20 screws. 5. Turn over the electronics module assembly frame to its normal position (as it is installed within the base control module). 6. Re-attach the PUK card with the 3 T8 screws. 7. Place the edge of the electronics card frame on the frame of the base module, at its installation location. 8. Carefully ensure that all cables - on both sides - are visible and away from the sides of the electronics module assembly frame. 9. Carefully slide in the electronics module assembly frame. 10. Replace the 4 T15 screws that attach the electronics module assembly to the frame. 11. Refer back to the removal section of this procedure and re-connect all the cables you disconnected. 12. Insert the electronics module assembly cover plate at the bottom, align the slots in the grooves, tilt the top of the cover and tighten the 2 green thumb screws. 13. In the base module, turn ON the PDU circuit breaker (if you have a 2N configuration, turn on both PDU circuit breakers). 14. Turn ON the electronics module assembly switch. If you have the redundant power feature, also turn ON the second power switch. 15. In the drive expansion module, turn ON the PDU circuit breaker (if you have a 2N configuration, turn on both PDU circuit breakers). 16. Connect your laptop to the CLI port on the HBCR card and verify the correct configuration for the library and drives. 17. Have the operator issue the command to place the library online.
