Goal

***Please NOTE - this applies to any system that can use ipmitool 'sunoem' commands to gather output***

Customer gets no output from "ipmitool sunoem cli" using ipmitool V1.8.11
ipmitool -V
ipmitool version 1.8.11

Commands run
root@x4170m3-bur09-a:/opt/ipmitool/sbin# ipmitool sunoem cli
root@x4170m3-bur09-a:/opt/ipmitool/sbin# ipmitool sunoem cli version

Solution

Update the version from OHMP(Oracle Hardware Management Package)

After installing OHMP:
/opt/ipmitool/sbin/ipmitool -V
ipmitool version 1.8.12.0
/opt/ipmitool/sbin/ipmitool sunoem cli version
Connected. Use ^D to exit.
-> version
SP firmware 3.1.2.42
SP firmware build number: 88414
SP firmware date: Fri Apr  4 17:46:46 CST 2014
SP filesystem version: 0.1.23
->
Session closed
Disconnected

***Please be aware that the customer may need to remove or re-name ipmitool V1.8.11 and use the new path that OHMP creates***

Old ipmitool is usually located in '/usr/sbin'

OHMP installs it in '/opt/ipmitool/sbin'
