Goal

What are some of the known issues while upgrading Oracle Key Manager X2100 M2 and X2200 M2 KMA Servers?

Solution

There have been serveral issues observed in the field during X2x00 M2 KMA upgrades:

1. Sometimes x2100 or x2200 KMA’s may encounter hardware problems during upgrade because they will go through a number of reboots, they may complain about CMOS checksum errors (lithium battery for the motherboard needs replacement) and require manual intervention to press a key (F1/F2) to continue booting.

2. During reboot DIMM errors have been observed, which would prevent the KMA to even pass POST to start booting.  In this scenario the memory DIMM would need to be replaced.

3. During some upgrades either from 2.0.2 or from 2.2.0, the code activation took upward to 9 hours to complete.
