A video procedure on how to Remove/Replace the operator panel

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
- Operator Panel has been determined to be defective and requires replacement.

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
Customer must take library and drives offline to application and OS.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:

Refer to Oracle/StorageTek SL500 Replaceable Parts Catalog, PN96120, for detailed instructions on removal/replacement of Base Faceplate (EZ) Assembly. It will provide the Pictures, Notes and Cautions for proper replacement.

Refer to the attached Video to assist in removal / replacement of the Op Panel Assembly.

Library operator panel is located at the front of the library and is installedin the top opening in the base unit door or the middle opening in themodule two door.
 
CAUTION:
ESD Sensitive:
Damage may occur to the operator panel.Follow the ESD procedures in the“Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Damage Prevention” section.
 
Removal of Op Panel:
1. Read the safety and ESD instructions in the “Personal Safety” and “Product Precautions” sections.
2. Be sure the customer has ended all jobs the robot is performing.
3. Press the Open Door keypad button on the front of the robot.
 
Note: Pressing the Open Door button ends all jobs being performed by the robot and returns the robot to its parked position.
 
4. Wait until the robot has returned to its parked position before proceeding.
5. Go to the rear of the library and remove power from the library by toggling the main power switch to the OFF position.
6. Use the key provided to unlatch the library front door.
7. Remove the two screws attaching the operator panel cover to the back of the door.
 
Note: Do not lose the two cable clamps stored on the cover.
Note: On older versions of the base door (not shown), the cable pocket cover is attached with three screws.
 
8. Remove the screws attaching the cover over the cable pocket.
9. Note how the op cable harness is folded in the cable pocket and is routed to the operator panel connectors.
10. Disconnect the power (P18) and signal (P15) connectors on the op cable harness from the op panel.
11. Remove the screw holding the ground strap in the lower right corner of the op panel.
12. Remove the remaining screw in the upper left corner that attaches the operator panel assembly to the back of the door.
13. If you are not replacing the operator panel, place the operator panel in an ESD bag to be re-installed later in another procedure.
14. If you are replacing the base door, return tostep 16 in the Base Door procedure, otherwisecontinue to the replacement steps.
Replacement of Op Panel
1. Remove the protective film from the new operator panel’s screen.
2. Orient the operator panel with the ground strap in the lower right corner, and align the tabs with the mounting holes on the back of the base door.
3. Install a screw in the upper left mounting tab on the operator panel.
4. Route the door switch cables around the tabs at the top of the op panel.
5. Align the grounding lug with the lower right tab.
6. Attach the ground strap and operator panel with one screw.
7. Fold the cables in the cable pocket and route the cables as shown.
8. Connect the signal (P15) and power (P18) cables to the operator panel.
9. Attach the cable pocket cover with screws.
10. Attach the operator panel cover to the door with two screws.
11. If you are replacing the base door, go to step 23 of the Base Door replace procedure, otherwise, continue with the next steps.
12. Close and lock the front door.
13. Add power to the library by toggling the main power switch to the ON position.
Note: Powering-on the library automatically starts the initialization process. This includes an audit of the library that is performed by the robot.
