How to get Static PDP address

Solution

Created from <SR 3-9378415001>

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Subscriber Data Management (SDM) - Version SDM 9.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
We are referring to the allocation of static IP Addresses directly from the HLR.
The subscriber will have in his profile, for each APN a static IP Address.
The HLR will pass this to the SGSN.

In the Create PDP Context Request message, the SGSN will send the PDP IP Address to the GGSN, per that user.
The GGSN will see the address, will check for the APN requested if the address is within the range of the ip pool configured on the GGSN and if the APN is configured for static allocation (hlr provided IP Address). If the case is so in the Create PDP Context Response the GGSN will send to the MS this IP Address.

Goal

Define an static PDP address per PDP context.

Solution

User mentioned “Create PDP Context Request message”, they are talking about ‘static PDP address’, which is defined in the Home Location Register (HLR) Subscriber’s profile.

Webci -- Subscription Management -- Subscriber Provisioning

Field is named “PdpAddress” in the ‘GPRS context’

From “Subscriber Provisioning Reference Manual located in Oracle Communications Documentation for Tekelec Products

PDP Address: holds the address of the MS for a certain service, i.e., an IP . If dynamic addressing is allowed, PDP Address is empty in the HLR.
