Solution Type Technical Instruction Sure Solution 1907131.1 : SL150 - Restrictions on Networker Partitions if Networker License is Smaller Than SL150 Size
Potential for wasted slots when Networker license is smaller than library partition slot count. In this Document
Created from <SR 3-9301794291> Applies to:StorageTek SL150 Modular Tape Library - Version All Versions and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform. SL150 Networker GoalCan I assign less than a full magazine to an SL150 partition to be compliant with Networker licensing restrictions? SolutionThis is a restriction of the Networker licensing and how it interfaces with the SL150. You can only define a whole magazine to a partition which will , if the Networker licenses do not match the size of the physical partition, result in slots potentially being wasted. Networker refuses to use a library that has greater number of slots with a license that has less. e.g. Library = 60 slots, license = 40 slots. With reference to licensing, IBM have changed their licensing concept of late, wherein most of the licenses are being moved to capacity based licensing instead of specific licenses. In the above (60/40) instance either add 2 drives and the top 2 magazines to Partition 1 and leave the other 2 magazines as unassigned keeping under the 40 slots license restriction or get a new license. If you added another magazine to partition 1 you would be at 45 slots and thus would be over your license. Attachments This solution has no attachment |
