Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Options for Tape Drive Cleaning on the SL150.

Solution

Two options are available for cleaning drives on the SL150.

1. Host Backup Application cleaning, such as with Netbackup or Networker, using tape alerts - See the SL150 User guide for details.

2. The library BUI(Browser User Interface) clean can be requested as-needed.  Library auto cleaning is not configurable on the SL150 as in other libraries such as the SL500 and SL3000.

Note: The SL150 User Guide listed at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35103_07/index.html  Incorrectly documents that ACSLS can be configured for auto cleaning with the SL150.

This is not correct, ACSLS only supports the auto clean feature on HLI or Serial connected Tape Libraries, such as SL8500 and SL3000 type libraries.

This is not an ACSLS limitation but a SCSI command protocol limitation for libraries. The SL150 can only connect to ACSLS using a SCSI/FC connection.

A document change to the User Manual will be made to remove a reference to configuring ACSLS auto cleaning.
