Goal

When is a data unit created?
What causes a tape to be assigned more than one data units?

Solution

A data unit gets created the first time a tape gets mounted on an encryption enabled drive which is enrolled as an agent under OKM.
If a KMA has no record of the data unit getting created and it assumes that the tape is mounted on the drive for the first time, a new data unit will be associated with this tape.

Another possible way by which a new data unit is assigned to a tape is when it is relabeled.
