Goal

What is the Exalytics support/desupport policy on Patchsets (i.e. is there any planned desupport date for PS3 or other PS patches)?

Solution

At this time, an official de-support date has not been announced by Exalytics Product Management for any of the Exalytics Patchsets.  Product Management strongly encourages all customers to upgrade to the most current releases, Release 2.0.0.0.0 (Linux 5.11 or Linux 6.6) ~ OR ~ Release 2.0.0.1.0 (Linux 6.7).

Customers are encouraged and expected to upgrade to Release 2.0.0.0.0/2.0.0.1.0 as soon as practical and should strive to be on a minimum patchset level of Release 2.0.0.0.0 with Linux 5.11.  By not applying current patchsets, you will be missing important bug updates including kernel patches, security patches, application patches, firmware and image patches.  Please see Exalytics: Available and Recommended Patches and Patchsets (PS) <Document 1910852.1> for further details.

This policy includes the following additional notes:

  • If an issue is being encountered on an older Exalytics PS patch, and a fix is included in a more current PS patch, customers may be asked to upgrade to the more current patch to obtain a fix.
  • The entire Exalytics server stack is certified with the application software versions listed in the certification matrix in Note 1505616.2 Information Center: Certification Information For Oracle Exalytics.
  • Each of the application software packages has their own support guidelines (i.e. OBIEE, TimesTen, Essbase).  Further information may be found in Note 209768.1 Database, FMW, Enterprise Manager, TimesTen In-Memory Database, and OCS Software Error Correction Support Policy.
  • The Linux operating system lifetime support policy is described in Oracle Linux and Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK) Lifecycle Matrix and Support Status Summary <Document 1918266.1>.
  •  The term support is sub-divided into:
    • "Lifetime Support Policy" document gives the announcement, dates and exceptions for the End of Premier Support as defined within the policy
    • "Oracle Lifetime Support" is a page on oracle.com with details on the overall program.
    • "Error Correction Support Policy" gives the rules and guidelines based on different releases and terminology in order to coordinate releases and time schedules.
