HP LTO drive tray
SL8500

Goal

Changing the FC coupler and drive tray cable on a SL8500 LTO drive tray.

Replacement instructions for Coupler and internal FC cable on SL8500 LTO drive tray.

Solution

1. Remove drive from library (see Doc 1353584.1 ).

2. Disconnect the cable assembly.

3. Clip and discard all cable tie/mounts securing the cable assembly to the tray assembly.

4. Remove the T10 mounting screw on the drive interface plate.

5. Pull the plate away from the drive tray rear panel to access and disconnect the rear fibre-optic cable connector.

6. Remove coupler.

7. Follow cable and remove from opposite end of cable from drive.

8. Connect the replacement cable assembly.

9. Replace coupler.

10. Secure the cable assembly to the tray assembly with new cable/tie mounts.

11. Reattach the drive interface plate to the drive tray rear panel with one T10 screw.

Note: Low Light levels reported when testing FC port.
