Goal

Be able to acquire and complete the drive firmware upgrade process.

How to acquire and upgrade drive firmware for StorageTek T10000 and 9840 tape drives.

Solution

1. Log into My Oracle Support.

2. Select the Patches and Updates tab.

3. Go to the 'Product or Family (Advanced)' search option.

4. Put in your drive type in the product line ie. T10000 or 9840C or 9840D.

5. Select your specific model number ie. T10000A, T10000B and click on Search.

6. After clicking on the Search button you should be able to select the version of firmware to download.

7. Selecting the version of firmware you are requesting gives you the readme and download option.

8. Download MDVOP at https://edelivery.oracle.com/ for additional instructions on firmware upgrades for T10000 and 9x40.

9. When logged into Edelivery select 'Programs' in the 'Filter Products By' selection at the top.

10. Then type in 'VOP' in the search box and select Oracle StorageTek Virtual Operator Panel ( VOP) release you are interested in.

11. Follow through the rest of the prompts to download VOP.

1. Take the drives to be upgraded offline first. When using Multi Drive VOP you may want to limit the number of drives being loaded simultaneously to 10 or less. 
 
2. If any upgrade failures occur, do not continue upgrading devices. Loss of power during download will result in damaged peripherals and may require replacement.
 
 If any failures occur, please open a Service Request and provide the transcripts file from MD VOP.
  
3.Please READ instructions completely BEFORE starting firmware update procedure. Follow the procedures carefully.
