Goal

SL3000/SL8500 - Drive Tray Serial Number Format

Solution

The new drive tray serial number format is a total of 18 characters with a '+' in the 8th position.  The 10 characters after the '+' will be unique.

Manually importing drive tray serial numbers via SLC is supported starting at code SL3000 (4.00+) and SL8500 (8.31+).  They only support alpha numeric characters currently. 

The new 18 character drive tray serial number format is supported at SL3000 code 4.31 & SLC_6.51 or greater and the SL8500 support is scheduled for 8.50 & SLC_6.60 or greater which is tentatively scheduled for 8/12/2015.

SN Format = VVVVVV = Vendor Code (Flex =464970), F = Factory Code (G), +, YYWW = Year Year Week Week, II = Indicator (Column E of the Data Matrix), SSSS = Rolling SN
