Goal

This document identifies the impact that the transition to transport.oracle.com will have on your ability to upload a support bundle to Oracle.

It will highlight changes and new requirements, in the user interface, for you to send a support bundle to Oracle support.

Solution

Oracle has released a new, supportbundle-upload mechanism into Appliance Firmware Releases 2011.1.9.0 and 2013.1.1.6.

The change transitions the 7000 and ZS3 support file bundle upload from supportfiles.sun.com to transport.oracle.com.

For more information about the change, please read the 2011.1.9.0 Release Notes and 2013.1.1.6 Release Notes for the appliance.

Customers currently connected via ASR have received a communication from Oracle documenting this change.

The announcement is also discussed the 2011.1.9.0 Release Notes and 2013.1.1.6 Release Notes.

What you need to do:

Verify whether you will be impacted when supportfiles.sun.com is shut down on 1st May 2015.

If you are running a releaseearlier than 2011.1.9.0 or 2013.1.1.6:

  • Support bundle uploads will continue to be allowed to supportfiles.sun.com using the User Interface until 1st May 2015.  This is to allow for all customer installations to transition to the new software release.  After that point, supportfiles.sun.com is expected to be shut down.
  • Auto Service Request (ASR) telemetry and Service Request (SR) creation will not be affected.
  • Failure to upgrade to 2011.1.9.0+ or 2013.1.1.6+ will require you to save off a support bundle locally.
  • It is recommended that you upgrade to the latest available Appliance Firmware Release for your system.

Once you upgrade

  • If you had not registered for ASR, then you are required to do so, in order to use the product bundle upload feature.
  • If you were previously registered for our Auto Service Request (ASR) Service, we will need you to send a test event.  You can do this by downloading the attached workflow, install, and run it on your appliance (only a single node in a cluster).  Create a service request with Oracle if any failures are recorded.
  • All Bundle uploads require an Service Request (SR) Number, to be associated so that it will be attached to the SR.
  • SSL port 443 will need to be opened to allow the bundle to upload (Consult your network administrator for further assistance) . This includes both direct and proxy configurations to transport.oracle.com AND asr-services.oracle.com
  • You can view and change your account information on the appliance in the browser by Configuration->Services->Phone Home
  • You can view and change your account information on the appliance in the CLI by issuing:  configuration services scrk [show | set]

More detail on installing and executing the workflow (attached to this document: Filename=ASR_ExaChk.js  containing workflow 'ZFS_ASRExachk 2.0'):
  1. Install the workflow through the BUI:  Maintenance->Workflow->Click "+"
  2. Click "ZFS_ASRExachk 2.0"
  3. Set the email address that you want Oracle to contact for the test ASR event and click apply (This test takes less than 30 seconds)
  4. The results of the workflow can be viewed under: Maintenance->Logs->Audit

The test event will email you if it was successful.  If the workflow is not an option, configuring Phone Home with a new Single Sign On account will accomplish the same thing.

If you do not wish to connect your appliance to Oracle's ASR service, you will need to upload the file by downloading it from the appliance and uploading it using the methods outlined in MOS Document ID 1547088.2
