Goal

How to determine if a"CRITICAL - Power Supply sensor ... indicates that it is at state: Deasserted" is false and if so ... clear the alert

Solution

The following procedure should be followed when a power sensor alert occurrs on the console.

1. Once a power sensor alert is raised on the Enterprise Manager console, login to the ILOM's web interface then check for faulty components .. if there are no faulty components then the alert is false

a) Open a web browser
b) Enter the IP address for the ILOM's Net Mgmt port
c)  Log into the ILOM's web GUI with the "root" account (the default password from the factory is "changeme")
d) Examine the condition of the component in the "Fault Mangement"

Ideally you should see "No Items to Display" (a false report)

For more details see : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19860-01/E21446/E21446.pdf

2. If the alert is false, check for the ILOM's sel logs using the following command.

ipmitool -I lanplus -H <ilom> -U root -L OPERATOR sel list last <num>

The <num> can be obtained from the <ilom_ip>.selstate.txt file from the <AGENT_STATE_DIR>/sysman/emd/state/ilom folder

If any Power Supply Sensor entry with Asserted event and message 'Power Supply AC lost' was not followed by a similar Deasserted event, then use the following workaround

ipmitool -I lanplus -H <ilom> -U root -P <password> -L OPERATOR event PS1/STATE "Power Supply AC lost" "Deasserted"

Please use extra care while typing the sensor name. Or use the following command to make sure that you have the right combination of sensor id and sensor name.

ipmitool -I lanplus -H <ilom> -U root -E -L OPERATOR sensor get PS1/STATE
