Goal

What are the bootloader requirements for loading SCZ7.X.X on a 4500 or 3820 system?

Solution

The stage1 and 2 bootloader file should be dated minimum 3rd July 2013. The stage 3 bootloader should match the version of software running on the 4500. The stage3 bootloader is provided as a .boot file along with the image which needs to be renamed as bootloader and copied to boot directory.

Acme Packet 3820 and 4500 Bootloader Prerequisites

Customers planning to upgrade to Oracle Session Delivery software version 7 and beyond on Acme Packet 3820 and 4500 hardware must first upgrade their boot loader to the image dated July 03, 2013 or later.

The AP 3820 and AP 4500 require Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 3 bootloaders.
The Stage 1 and Stage 2 bootloaders should be dated no earlier than July 3, 2013 (MOS patch # 18185632) . Use the show version boot command to view current bootloader version on your system.
THe Stage 1 and Stage 2 bootloader updates are available on My Oracle Support listed under the respective hardware.
The Stage 3 bootloader accompanies the OCSBC image file, as distributed. It should be installed according to the instructions found in the Maintenance and Troubleshooting Guide.
