Goal

Can I install mix & match HP LTO6 & IBM LTO 6 drives in the same SL3000 library using the same drive bay.

Solution

You can not mix HP LTO 5/6 with IBM LTO 5/6 as drive tray back covers are different. IBM LTO5/6 cover is p/n 418622702 and HP LTO5/6 cover is p/n 418622802. (Refer to the attached pics for LTO covers).

You can populate drive bays with any mix of Oracle supported tape drives.... T10000 A/B/C/D, T9840 C/D, LTO 3/4/5/6. Refer to https://tapesupport.us.oracle.com/Products/Libraries/sl3000.php
