Goal

How to change the LFA ( Large File Accelerator) settings of the T10000D drive using VOP (Virtual Op Panel) to persist through an IPL.

Solution

This settings should persist through an IPL. The only way they would not persist is if you changed the interface type. (FICON to Fibre Channel or vice versa) Then the settings would be lost.

Below steps to be used to change the settings via VOP  2.1.1

1. set the drive to FICON or FC and press commit. The drive will IPL.

To do this => Take the drive offline and select the Configuration menu item.  Select Drive Data, Select the FIBRE tab.  At the bottom are 2 selections: one for FIBRE and the other for FICON.

2. Set the LFA to the value you want.
3. Commit this setting. The drive will IPL.
4. Verify the setting is correct.
5. IPL the drive again and verify that the setting is still the same.
