DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
- WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:
General Knowledge of the F5100 and Common Array Manager (CAM)
- TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS:
- WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:
- The F5100 must be placed in active-standby power mode or shutdown before the FMOD is replaced.
- Review the storage FMOD configuration in CAM to locate the position of the FMOD prior to shutdown.
- You must stop all I/O to the F5100 array.
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
- Take ESD precautions.
- The Sun Storage F5100 Flash Array has 80 Flash Modules (FMods). Refer to the Internal Service Label View for the location of the modules. The amber Fault LED on the front panel of the F5100 as well as the amber fault indicator on the spine of the FMod will illuminate. You can also use Common Array Manager to identify which FMod has faulted.
- Place the System in Active-Standby Power Mode. Use a stylus to press in the power button on the front panel
- Slide the chassis forward and remove the top chassis cover. Press the top cover release button on the right side of the cover, just behind the fan module door , and lift the cover up.
- Remove the faulty FMod.
- Install a new Flash Module
- Return the array to the installed position.
- Restore power to the system.
- WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
- Using the Common Array Manager software, ensure that the new FMod has been detected and has been brought back online.
- Check for the FMOD in a disk utility such as format or fdisk
