SolutionDISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED: TIME ESTIMATE: 60 minutes TASK COMPLEXITY: 0 FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS: PROBLEM OVERVIEW: A Sun Server X4-4 HDD needs replacement WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? : The disk could be replaced with online but depends on how the drives are configured. Caution - The latch is not an ejector. Do not bend it too far to the right. Doing so can damage the latch.
Caution - Whenever you remove a disk drive filler panel, you should replace it with another filler panel or a disk drive; otherwise, the server might overheat due to improper airflow. How to Remove a Hard Drive
How to verify the Disk working properly.
/SYS/HDD0 /SYS/HDD0/OK2RM /SYS/HDD0/PRSNT /SYS/HDD0/SERVICE /SYS/HDD0/STATE
-> show /SP/faultmgmt
-> show /SP/logs/event/list In certain cases you may be required to verify that the disk is seen by the controller (HBA). During POST watch for the HBA initialization messages. This will tell you the key combination to enter the HBA BIOS. ( fro example an Adaptec card may use Control +A , while LSI uses Control +C) Depending up on the HBA in use, enter the HBA BIOS and verify that the disk is detected and is normal.
