DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?:

Netra T1 Model 100/105 product training is desirable but not required

TIME ESTIMATE: 50 mins

TASK COMPLEXITY: 1

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Whole System FRU failure

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:

If a data backup is not required it is still a wise precaution.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

Installing Whole System FRU

Caution – The system contains electronic parts that are extremely sensitive to static
electricity. Do not touch any metal parts. Wear an anti-static wrist strap connected to
an earthing point before you open the system.

Caution – Before attempting to remove the cover, make sure that all power cords and all other cables have been disconnected from the system.

1. Turn the power supply switch off and disconnect the power cord(s) and all other cables.
2. If you have installed the system into a rack or cabinet, remove it.
3. Remove the rack mount brackets from the side of the system
4. Place the unit at an ESD station and use an anti-static wrist strap.
5. Remove the system’s top cover. Remove the screw at the rear center of the unit. Slide the top cover back and lift it off.
6. Remove the front bezel by pressing the latch at each end,
7. Remove PCI cards installed, Disks, DVD/CD ROM, and all cables connected
8. Unplug the serial and SCSI cables from the rear I/O board. Using a Phillips No.1 screwdriver, remove the screws and washers from the base
memory board, remove all memory boards

9.If you ever need to replace an entire Netra t1, you can re-use the old system’s MAC address and serial number in the new system. This information is stored on the
motherboard in a removable component called the Host ID chip. To
transfer them to a new system, do the following:
A. Remove the Host ID chips from both the new and the old systems
B. Fit the Host ID chip from the old system onto the motherboard of the new system.

Removing Whole System FRU

1.Slide the new Whole System FRU into the chassis and secure IT to the chassis.

2. Connect all external and internal cables, PCI cards, disks, DVD/CD ROM and all memory boards

3. Replace the Front bezel and top cover (and replace the system into the rack if you have installed the system on a cabinet)

4. Power on the system.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO
RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Boot the system and verify all components are working properly by verifying POST has completed. Logon to root account after booted and running the command # prtdiag ensuring all components present.
