Goal

The SNMP logs still show old alerts that have been cleared from the NAS.

Like old disk errors or network card errors, and we need to clear these down.

Solution

In the CLI, select the SNMP service:

Configuration > Services > SNMP

1)  Type  disable  to take the service offline

2)  Now move the file

CLI:> confirm shell  cp /var/log/snmpd.log  /var/log/snmpd.log.old

3)  Now zero the file

CLI:> confirm shell cat /dev/null > /var/log/snmpd.log

3)  Restart the SNMP service

Configuration > Services > SNMP > enable

Clients using the SNMP service should now not see any old messages.
