Goal

Oracle continuously strives to improve quality of service, security, and data handling. To support that effort, we are making changes to the way we receive customer data by establishing a common corporate data transport capability using two standard secure protocols. This will provide secure and reliable file upload capability.  In addition, Oracle is standardizing on the authentication and authorization methods used for uploads to support. Below are the rules for authorizing file uploads.

MY ORACLE SUPPORT USER ID WITH CREATE AND UPDATE SERVICE REQUEST (SR) PERMISSIONS

  • Create and Update SR permissions must be granted by the appropriate Customer User Administrator (CUA) for each Support Identifier to users wishing to upload files
  • For reactive SR file uploads the Support Identifier must be in the same organization as the Support Identifier (SI) associated with the Service Request

Previously, some clients may have allowed upload without the above permissions.  While there is no upgrade needed, the account used to register must be linked to a SI or the client must change the stored account or reregister with a new account associated with SI wiith above permission.

Solution

To add a Support Identifer (SI) to the account with which the client was registered with refer to:
Oracle Support Document 1070936.1 (How To Add A Support Identifier (SI) To Your User Account)

If it is not possible or desired to add the SI to the existing account used to register, you may also change the stored account or reregister with a SI linked account.

Please follow the instructions below:

ASR manager:

Run:

asr unregister
asr register

and enter the new username password

Test the connection with:

asr test_connection

Details: http://oracle.com/asr... Documentation ... ASR Manager installation and operations guide

Secure File Transfer (SFT):

Run:

/opt/SUNWsasm/bin/sasm transport -u
/opt/SUNWsasm/bin/sasm transport -r

and enter the new username password

Test the connection with:

/opt/SUNWsasm/bin/sasm test_transport

Details: Oracle Secure File Transport User's Guide

CAM (Common Array Manager):

CAM clients can be reregistered using the GUI or CLI command (register sun-connection)
See CAM documentation:
Sun Storage Common Array Manager Software 6.9 Documentation

Virtual Library Extention (VLE):

Open an SR, review document below for prerequisites.

Refer to: StorageTek Tape Virtualization for Mainframe Systems VLE 1.4 Planning Guide : Satisfying Serviceability Requirements

Virtual Storage Manager 6 (VSM):

Open an SR, review document below for prerequisites.

Refer to: VSM 6 Planning Guide: VSM 6 Implementation Planning : Satisfying Serviceability Requirements

Service Delivery Platform 2 (SDP2) / Virtual Operator Panel:

If self managed refer to VOP Operator Panel 2.1 User Guide, Chapter 7 ASR

If Oracle managed, open an SR

ZFS Storage Appliance

ZFS Storage Appliance set the MOS user account under Phone Home Settings.  Refer to Oracle Support Document 1285455.1 (Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance: How to (and why) enable the Automated Service Request (ASR) Feature)
