Remove power to the tape drive you want to remove. a. Keep the library powered on and in its Ready state. b. On the main screen of the GUI, press 'Quickview'. The GUI displays the Quick View Menu screen. c. Press Drv Pwr. The GUI displays the Drive power screen. d. Press the Up or Down buttons to highlight the tape drive you want to remove. e. Press Select. The drive power setting is highlighted. f. Press the Up or Down buttons to change the current setting. g. When the OFF setting is displayed, press Select. h. Press Back to save the change and return to the Quick View Menu screen. 2. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to loosen the 2 thumbscrews on the SCSI sub-plate. 3. Pull the SCSI sub-plate handle to disconnect the SCSI sub-plate from the drive. 4. Use a flat-blade screwdrive to loosen the tape drive thumbscrew. 5. Pull the tape drive out of the library, using the left side of the tape drive as a handle. To install the new tape drive: 1. Unpack the new tape drive. Save the packaging, you will need it to repackage the faulty tape drive. 2. Remove the SCSI sub-plate from the new tape drive. a. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to loosen the 2 thumbscrews on the SCSI sub-plate. b. Pull the SCSI sub-plate handle to disconnect the SCSI sup-plate from the drive. c. Save the SCSI sub-plate. 3. Slowly insert the new tape drive into the library until the connectors are seated. 4. Tighten the tape drive thumbscrew using a flat-blade screwdriver. 5. Install the old SCSI sub-plate (still connected to the SCSI bus) on the new tape drive. 6. Tighten the 2 sub-plate thumbscrews using a flat-blade screwdriver. The host detects the presence of the tape drive automatically. 7. Return power to the drive by setting the Drive Power option to ON. 8. Ensure that the drive LED on the back of the drive canister illuminates. 9. If the host does not detect the presence of the tape drive, check the drive SCSI ID. If the drive SCSI is: - Valid, the tape drive may be defective. - Invalid, the SCSI sub-plate has failed and needs to be replaced. 10. Use a host SCSI program to check the data transfer performance of the drive. 11. Package the faulty tape drive using the packaging from the new tape drive and send it back to logistics.
