Goal

Is there a VTCS command that can be used to find the microcode/firmware level for a VSM?

Solution

There is no VTCS command that will display the VTSS micro code level.  The closest command would be the Display VTSS DETail (D VTSS DET) which will show the VSM type (VSM5, VSM6) and the features supported by that VSM, but does not include the microcode level.   An Oracle FE will need to access the VTSS and provide that information.  Some customer locations also have the ability for Oracle Support to remotely access the VTSS.

The following is an example from the D VTSS DET output:

Vtss      Type      Supported features
VTSS10    Unknown   800MB VTVs
VTSS11    VSM5      Replication
                    800MB VTVs
                    NOWAIT on RTD mount
                    Buddy queuing
                    2/4GB VTVs
                    Large page VTVs
                    Sync replicate
                    Last use hint

                    Connect to 32 RTDs

                    Write New VOL1 label

                    Many-to-many connect
                    IP Replication
                    Partitioned RTDs
                    T10KC Partition RTDs
                    Concurrent tape recall/mount *disabled
                    Concurrent disk recall/mount *disabled
