Goal

 To replace the base unit of the SL48 if the robotics have failed

Solution

DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
    - WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED: Understanding of the SL48 Library
    - TIME ESTIMATE: 120 minutes
    - TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS
    - PROBLEM OVERVIEW: The SL48 has been determined to be defective and requires base unit replacement.
    - WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?  All work on the SL48 library and drives must be stopped.  The unit will need to be powered down.
    - WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE:

Refer to the SL48 Service Manual for complete instructions, pictures and warnings prior to taking the following actions.

1. Record the configuration details from the original unit.

Either login with the OCP (Operator Control Panel) or via the RMI (Remote Managment Interface) Note the settings down.

The SL48 configuration details are on the controller and should be transfered across with the change of the base chassis.

2. Ensure the host activity as stopped.

3. Ensure there is no media in the drive(s), if so please remove this.

4. Power off the SL48.

5. Remove all cables, drive(s), magazines, power supply(s) and finally the controller.

6. Remove the SL48 from the rack.

7. Replace the base chassis.

8. Reinstall controller, power supply(s), magazines, drive(s) and all cables.

9. Power on the SL48.

10. Check the settings and configuration is correct. If not add again from your notes in step 1.

11. Test the SL48 and hand back to the customer

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
    - WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
