Applies to:

Oracle Database Appliance - Version All Versions and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

You are considering upgrading bash on both ODA nodes to match the version that is available on the rest of your Linux servers.

For example:

Other machines are Linux 6 / bash 4.1.2
ODA is Linux 5 / bash 3.2.25

What would be the pros/cons of this update considering ODA is an Engineered System?

Solution

This is not supported.

Unfortunately changing the bash version would not be acceptable since the ODA uses a lot of scripting for operations.

There is no guarantee these scripts would work with any bash version other than what has been tested and released with the ODA version.
