PROBLEM OVERVIEW: Acme Packet 6300 Chassis Replacement
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
A data backup is not a prerequisite, but is a wise precaution.
If the system is still up and functioning, customer should perform an orderly and graceful shutdown of applications, OS and logically removing the Acme Packet 6300 system from the network. Then power off the server and remove the power cords and all other cabling from the system.
Animation videos are available to demonstrate the chassis replacement process for this server. Please refer to the following links: (TBC - no Lab system available yet to make the video cap)
Please also refer to the "link" detailed instruction on chassis replacement.
Note 1: The replacement chassis does not contain a storage device (HDD). These item will need to be removed from the failed unit and installed into the replacement chassis. The HDD device is located in the upper left corner on the back of the unit, secured by two captive screws, above the console/management ports.
Note 2:Pay special attention on configuration of initial product. Based on the original order the device can be equipped with one NIU card (usually located in slot0) and one or two transcoding modules (usually located in slot1 or slot2). However, device may be equipped with 2 NIU cards (slots 0 and slot 1) and can be configured with one transcoding card in slot3 or without a transcoding card at all. Please pay special attention of card locations and configure in a like-for-like manner.
