WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

A data backup is not a pre-requisite but is a wise precaution.
The customer should conduct an orderly software system shutdown.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/CUSTOMER ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE:

Memory is shipped in matched pairs for use on the Sun Fire V125 server. When you install memory into a Sun Fire V125 server, follow the se guidelines:

■ A minimum of two matched DIMMs are required for the server. The matched DIMMs must be the same size, manufacturer, and part number.
■ DIMMs must be installed in identical pairs. Both size and manufacturer must be the same per pair, but you can mix manufacturers and size between pairs.
Note – A DIMM pair that has identical attributes, but different vendors will not be rejecte. However, such a DIMM pair will cause OpenBoot™ PROM to issue a
warning message to the console and will disable autoboot.

Installing Memory
1. Power down the server and disconnect the power cable.

2. Open the back cover.

3. Locate the correct DIMM socket.

4. Ensure that the retaining clips are open.

5. Press the memory module in the DIMM socket.

6. Press down until the clips snap into place.

Note – Note that the second DIMM pair shown in the preceding figure is optional.
The standard configuration includes only the DIMM pair that is closest to the CPU.

Removing Memory

1. Power down the server and disconnect the power cable.

2. Open the back cover.

3. Locate the correct DIMM socket.

4. Open the latches at the sides of the socket.

5. Remove the module from the DIMM socket.

6. Close the rear cover.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN the SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Restart software applications per applicable administration guides to resume system operation.
