SL8500 - Notes on Adding a Library - The following are some notes regarding adding a second library with regard to accessory racks, cabling 2N power and RE (Redundant Electronics)

Solution

To install a second 2N library to the first 2N library all you need is 2 accessory racks, 1 PUE switch and the required ethernet cabling (1 ILC kit).  These should all be ordered through marketing.

The PUE ethernet switch is fed with dual power and needs to be mounted in one of the 2 racks. (AC Transfer switch no longer necessary)  The racks could go into either library but traditionally get installed in the first library.  The important thing is the racks need to be on different power feeds.

The racks are numbered 1 through 4 starting from the top.   AC1 feeds racks 1 & 3 and AC2 feeds racks 2 & 4.  Install one rack in an odd numbered space and one in a even numbered space.  That insures power will be available from both feeds.  Then install the PUE switch in one rack and connect one power feed to that rack and run the other power feed to the second rack.

Do not confuse RE internal switch requirements that can support dual internal LAN with 8.3x code.   External dual LAN (ILC LANs) is a future enhancement and is not affected by the presence of RE.  The only impact to the ILC network from RE is the extra ethernet cables connected to the single external PUE switch from the 1A ports on the "B" side HBC cards that go along with the 1A cables from the "A" side HBC cards.  They all go to 1 external switch at this time.
