Goal

FRS-8.31 with RE (Redundant Electronics) requires all Internal Ethernet Cables to be connected.

Solution

FRS-8.31 and higher code supports dual internal LANs when 2 internal switches are present (RE installed).  To take advantage of this redundancy you must make sure that all the "B" side cables at the PTPs, and HBZ card(s) are connected along with all the "B" cables that are connected to the second switch as part of the RE install.  Over the years some areas did not connect the "B" side cables to the HBZ or PTPs to try and minimize noise exposure to the devices due to being connected to an un-terminated cable.  Therefore, it is not uncommon to find that the "B" side connections have not been made at the HBZ(s) and PTPs.

A properly connected internal network on an RE subsystem will look like the following SLConsole output from the System Detail, Status, Internal Networks tab:

SLC Output
