Goal
How to replace a 500GB drive for Acme Packet 3810/3820/4500/460. Note that these Platforms were formerly known as "Net-Net" Series.
Solution
DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS
This task relates to service of an ACME PACKET product. Parts specified in this task should be delivered using a cost effective next day delivery method, and may require to be back ordered from a Tier 1 location. The Planned End Date should be set to a time on the second business day to enable this, unless specific instructions from the TSC engineer indicate otherwise.

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
500GB drive is bad and needs to be replaced.
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
If the system is still up and functioning, customer should perform an orderly and graceful shutdown of applications, OS and logically removing the Acme Packet 3000 or Acme Packet 4500 system from the network. Then power off the server and remove the AC power cords and all other cabling from the system. A data backup is not a prerequisite but is a wise precaution.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:

Prepare the server for service.
-
Power off the Acme Packet platform and disconnect the power cords from the power supplies.
- For DC powered systems, be sure to disconnect the ground cable.

Unscrew the Acme Packet platform in the rack.

Place chassis on anti-static pad/workbench
-
Remove the Left/Right mounting ears and slides which are located on the side of the unit

Opening the Chassis
-
Attach an anti-static wrist strap
-
The top cover is secured by 15 screws. Remove the screws and lift the top lid off
the chassis.
-
Unscrew the four countersunk screws that are located on each side of the Acme Packet platform and the seven countersunk screws located on the top of the
Acme Packet platform.

Lift chassis lid off chassis and set screws and lid aside.

Remove Storage Installation Module and 500GB Drive
-
Storage Expansion Module Removal
-
Unscrew the Storage Expansion Module from the standoffs, 4 SEM screws with washers
-
Slide the Storage Expansion Module to the left until the SATA connector unseats
-
Remove the Storage Expansion Module from the motherboard area, place on static mat
-
Storage Expansion Module disassembly
-
Remove the mounting brackets from the 500GB drive being replaced
-
Install Storage Installation Module and 500GB Drive

Storage Expansion Module Preparation
-
Attach one mounting bracket to each side of the module
-
Screw one mounting bracket to one side of the storage expansion module with 2 pan head screws. Ensure that the mounting bracket’s flange are on the top side of the storage module, the side with the label.

Repeat Step 2 for the other side of the storage expansion module.

Storage Expansion Module Installation
-
Place the Storage Expansion Module on the Net-Net 3800 or Net-Net 4500 System motherboard. The Storage Expansion Module’s mounting flanges should initially be placed to the left of the four standoffs.

Slide the Storage Expansion module to the right until the SATA connector seats completely into its mate. The holes in the mounting flanges should line up with the standoffs.

Screw the Storage Expansion Module to the standoffs with 4 SEM screws (with washers)

Installing top lid
-
Set the lid on top of the Acme Packet chassis. Make sure stickers are positioned at the rear of the chassis.

Re-install the seven flathead screws that secure the cover to the chassis
-
Re-install the eight side screws (four on each side) that secure the slide to the
chassis
-
Install chassis into rack
-
Remove any anti-static measures that were used
-
Slide Acme Packet platform back into the rack.
-
Secure unit to rack by re-installing mounting screws
-
Re-install the AC power cords and any data cables that were disconnected, including the ground cable for DC power.

Power on server. Verify that the Power/OK indicator led lights steady on
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?:
Boot up system and verify full functionality
Net-Net 4500: Validate by running diagnostics, nnCX_diag104.gz
Net-Net 3000" validate by running diagnostics, nnCX_diags110.gz
