Goal

To explain the message, 'exceeded message threshold' in log files.

Solution

If you see the following message in acmelog or log.sipd, it means one of the thresholds configured under realm/access-control are being exceeded for that IP-address. When DoS is configured on the SD and one of the thresholds is exceeded, then this message will show up in acmelog and log.sipd even when they are not at debug.

In the example below, the value of 10 refers to max-signal-threshold configured for that realm "ACCESS". This threshold should be increased to a higher value to avoid packet drops from that IP.

Dec 15 12:11:37.743 [MINOR] SigAddr[ACCESS:192.168.13.113:5060=low:PERMIT] ttl=152 exp=115 exceeded message threshold of 10
Dec 15 12:11:37.743 [MINOR] recent(38): msgs=6 errs=0
Dec 15 12:11:37.744 [MINOR] lifetime: msgs=6 errs=0
