REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW: rear fan module failure

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

DAMAGE ALERT: Perform a visual inspection of the replacement part to make sure that there are no damaged components, connectors, bent pins, damaged packages during shipping, etc. If the part is damaged, don't install it into the system, order a new part. Handle with caution and package carefully the return part to avoid any damages during shipping.

The rear fan module is a Hot Swappable CRU. The rear fan module is located at the rear of the chassis.

WHAT ACTIONS ARE REQUIRED:

CAUTION - If the fan module fails, replace it as soon as possible to maintain server availability.

A) Locate a Faulty Fan Module

View the following LED, which is lit when a fan module fault is detected:
- Fan Module (FM4) Fault LED on the rear of the server.
When the amber Service Required LED is lit, a fault has occurred on that fan module.

B) Removing the Rear Fan Module

1. Grasp the handle of the fan module and move the lever to the right

2. Pull the fan module out from the chassis by the lever.

C) Install a Fan Module

1. Align the fan module to the location where it installs into the chassis.

2. Slide the fan module into the chassis until the lever clicks, securing the fan module in place.
