WHAT SKILLS DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED?:

FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR INSTRUCTIONS:
PROBLEM OVERVIEW: The security module is bad and needs to be replaced.
WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY?:
If the system is still up and functioning, customer should perform an orderly and graceful shutdown of applications, OS and logically removing the Net-Net 3000 or Net-Net 4500 system from the network. Then power off the server and remove the AC power cords and all other cabling from the system. A data backup is not a prerequisite but is a wise precaution.
WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE?:
1. Prepare the server for service.
- Power off the Net-Net series platform and disconnect the power cords from the power supplies.
- Unscrew the Net-Net series platform in the rack.
- Place chassis on anti-static pad/workbench
- Remove the Left/Right mounting ears and slides which are located on the side of the unit
2. Opening chassis
a. Attach an anti-static wrist strap
b. The top cover is secured by 15 screws. Remove the screws and lift the top lid off the chassis.
c. Unscrew the four countersunk screws that are located on each side of the Net-Net series platform and the seven countersunk screws located on the top of the Net-Net platform.
d. Lift chassis lid off chassis and set screws and lid aside.
3 Replacing the SSM2 card
a. The SSM2 card is located near the front of the unit and is attached to the motherboard with four screws and three connectors
b. Remove the four screws that secure the SSM2 card to the motherboard.
c. Lift up on SSM2 card.
d. Install replacement SSM2 card
5. Installing top lid
a. Set the lid on top of the Net-Net series chassis. Make usre stickers are positioned at the rear of the chassis.
b. Re-install the seven flathead screws that secure the cover to the chassis
c. Re-install the eight side screws (four on each side) that secure the slide to the chassis
6. Install chassis into rack
a. Remove any anti-static measures that were used
b. Slide Net-Net platform back into the rack.
c. Secure unit to rack by re-installing mounting screws
d. Re-install the AC power cords and any data cables that were disconnected
e. Power on server. Verify that the Power/OK indicator led lights steady on.
OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE
WHAT ACTION DOES THE FIELD ENGINEER/ADMINISTRATOR NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE?:
Boot up system and verify full functionality
Net-Net 4500: Validate by running diagnotics, nnCX_diag104.gz
Net-Net 3000: validate by running diagnotics, nnCX_diags110.gz
