Goal

How to backup the Session Director (SD) configuration.

Solution

Backing up the Session Directors configuration is something that should be done periodically as a preventive measure. It should also be backed up before any config changes are made to the system in case there is a need to quickly back out the changes.

The command to backup the configuration is “backup-config. An example is below:

ACME-SD # backup-config ACME-SD-2008-12-03
task done

The backup will then be located in /code/bkups, from where it can be copied if needed.

Name the backup with a name that is intuitive to others. Typically this would include the system name and the date of the backup. The “display-backups” command can be used to see the current backups on the system.

ACME-SD # display-backups
ACME-SD-2008-12-03.tar.gz
ACME-SD #
