When trying to log into the SP/ALOM of CP3060, the following error is shown:

Sun(tm) Advanced Lights Out Manager CMT v1.7.4

        Please login: admin
        Please Enter password: ****

Chassis serial number is not set, must use serial port.  Invalid login.
        Please login:

One possibility is that SC/ALOM password is somehow lost/reset for unknown reason.  And need to send FE to set SC/ALOM password via serial console of the blade.

Another possibility is truly the SN needs to be re-porgrammed.

Here are the steps needed:

A) Obtain a copy of "fruutil" from product lead NOTE 1

B) Dispatch FE and send "fruutil" to FE

Once FE is on site, please following the following steps:

  1. Connect to the serial port of problematic CP3060 blade
  2. Attempt to log into SC/ALOM
  3. If SC/ALOM password if not set, set it as default "changme"
  4. Ask customer to verify if able to log into SC/ALOM
  5. If customer verify the problem is resolved, work is done
  6. If customer verify still unable to log into SC/ALOM, there is a need to re-program SN
  7. ftp "fruutil" onto Active ShMM NOTE 2
  8. Program SN using "fruutil -w slot <slot #> serial_ no <SN>" NOTE 3
  9. Execute "[clia] shelf info_refresh"
  10. Reboot ShMM using "reboot" or "[clia] switchover"
  11. Ask customer to verify if able to log into SC/ALOM

NOTE1:

  • The copy of "fruutil" contains three files: fruutil, fruimage and fruflash
  • They are all part of older ShMM firmware and discontinued at R3
  • Copy all three files as a package

NOTE 2:

  • This is to copy "fruutil" onto ShMM, any available remote file transfer protocol can be used: ftp, sftp, rcp, scp, etc. depending on availibility
  • "fruutil" is usually put under /bin directory (there is also a /usr/bin but it is linked to /bin as well)
  • If older version exists, over write it with the newer version

NOTE 3:

  • Obtain correct SN using a) output of "[clia] fruinfo board <slot #>" or b) pull out blade and read the label
  • Check if "fruutil" works properly by reading SN from a working blade: "fruutil -r slot <slot #> serial_no"
  • Program SN: "fruutil -w slot <slot #> serial_no <SN>"
