Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Method of Procedure for Running Diagnostics on a 9200.

Solution

Summary

This MOP should be used to execute the diagnostics image on the Net-Net 9200. This procedure is the same for SPU1/NPU1 systems and SPU2/NPU2 systems. This procedure requires a console connection (with a facility to log output) to SPU0 and is service affecting.

Disconnect from the Network

It is recommended to disconnect the system's media cables from the network before running this procedure. No calls can or will be processed by the system during the diagnostics execution.

Diagnostic Image

The latest diagnostic image for the NN9200 should be available on the My Oracle Support site in the Patches and Updates section. Search for Acme 9200 diagnostics to find the latest image.

For this MOP we will use nnD_diags205.tar.

Loading the Diagnostic Image

  1. Save a copy of your existing boot parameters by running the command "show boot" and saving the output.
  2. FTP the diagnostic image to /code/images on BOTH SPUs.
  3. Set the boot parameters of the NN9200 to boot from the diagnostic image:
    ACMESYSTEM# set boot
Please specify boot parameters for Slot 0 :
    '.' = clear field; '-' = go to previous field; ^D = quit
    boot device : eth0
    processor number : 0
    host name :
    file name : nnSD710.tar /code/images/nnD_diags205.tar
    inet on ethernet (e) : 172.40.21.21:ffff0000
    inet on backplane (b):
    host inet (h) : 172.40.0.65
    gateway inet (g) : 172.40.0.1
    user (u) : vxftp
ftp password (pw) (blank = use rsh): vxftp123
    flags (f) : 0x0
    target name (tn) : ACMESYSTEM
    startup script (s) :

Please specify boot parameters for Slot 1 :
    '.' = clear field; '-' = go to previous field; ^D = quit
    boot device : eth0
    processor number : 0
    host name :
    file name : /code/images/nnD_diags205.tar

ftp password (pw) (blank = use rsh): vxftp123
    flags (f) : 0x0

Please specify virtual management IP parameters :

    inet on ethernet (e) : 172.40.21.20:ffff0000
    gateway inet (g) : 172.40.0.1
Boot parameters have been updated and will take effect on the next
    reboot.

  4. Reboot the system with the command "reboot force".
    ACMESYSTEM# reboot
    Are You Sure [y/n]?:y

  5. The system will boot the diagnostic image (this example is from an SPU2/NPU2
    system):
