Solution

Applies to:

Net-Net 9200 - Version S-D5.1.0 and later
Acme Packet OS

Goal

Determining the SPU/NPU (Signaling Processing Unit/Network Processing Unit) type present in a NN9200.

Solution

 The type of NPU or SPU present in a NN9200 system can be determined by looking at the output of 'show version hardware', which lists the part-numbers present on the SPU or NPU. The mapping is as follows:

===========  =========  =========
Part Number  Part Type  Comments
===========  =========  =========
002-0507-xx  SPU1       Not supported in D72x

002-0508-xx  NPU1       Not supported in D72x

002-0519-xx  SPU2

002-0520-xx  NPU2

002-0528-xx  SPU3

002-0521-xx  NPU3       Supported in D720 and D723 streams only

002-0509-50  TCU        The TCU is NOT compatible with NPU3. It works with NPU1 and NPU2.

002-0509-51  TCU-10G    This TCU is ONLY compatible with NPU3. NOTE: Not compatible with NPU1 or NPU2

002-0510-50  TCM

002-0524-50  TCM2

Sample output of "show version hardware" for an SPU1 system:

Type Part Number Serial Number Func Rev Artwk Rev
---- ----------- ------------- -------- ---------
SPU0 002-0507-50 060831006472  4.17A    4.00
