Schedule maintenance window

FIELD ENGINEER INSTRUCTIONS

PROBLEM OVERVIEW:
Expired, faulty or defective battery

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :
Data backup not required but recommended as a precaution
Orderly shutdown of applications
Shutdown of OS and power down of server

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
Ensure standard ESD procedures are followed
1. Power off the server and disconnect (REMOVE) the power cords.
2. If the server is in a rack, slide it far enough from the rack so that you can remove the cover. If you cannot safely view and access the component, remove the server from the rack.
3. Remove the cover of the assembly.
Record the orientation (polarity) of the battery in its holder before you remove it. The positive polarity, marked with a “+” symbol, should be facing toward the chassis center.
4. Remove the battery by gently pulling the clip away from the battery face and lifting the battery straight up.
5. Installation is the reverse of this procedure.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:
Power on and bring up system. Verify LEDs on front panel
