Bridge Drive

Goal

The bridge drive is the drive assigned to a whole library or a partition through which all SCSI control of the library/partition and drives passes. A failure of the Bridge drive will result in library failure. On occasion, or if setting up new partitions, it is desirable to change which drive is the bridge drive.

Changing the bridged drive is only possible in 2.00 (1.32) and above firmware versions.

Solution

The Bridge drive can be changed using the SL150 GUI by undertaking the following steps. N.B. The library/partition will need to go offline to perform this change but will go back online, if desired, once the change has been accomplished. Please ensure backup applications are taken offline before the change is attempted.

1. Log into the SL150 GUI

2. On the left-hand side select 'Configuration'

3. The current configuration is displayed.

4. Select , at upper left, the 'Configure' icon. The Configuration Wizard starts.

5. Select the 'Configure Library Settings' option.

6. Select 'Library Bridged Drive'

   - Select the chosen drive

   - Click Next

   - The changed drive will be identified in blue under 'Library Settings'

   - Select 'Accept all changes' box

   - Select Apply

   - Select 'ok'

6. Wait for 'Completed' to be displayed alongside 'Actions' and the status bar to reach 100% completion and the configuration change completion notification. This should take a few minutes.

7. Confirm the change under the 'Configuration' tab.

8. Bring backup applications back online.
