Goal


This document is intented to provide guidance to customers that are about to install the latest Patch Bundle for Solaris, and have an older version of the OBP Firmware.



- What is the OS version and the kernel patch level of the system?


To get this information please type this commands :


uname -a


more /etc/release

-  What is the Firmware level of the system?


To get this information we can use :


   # prtconf -V
   # prtdiag -v | egrep "OBP|Firm"

   # prtdiag -v | egrep "OBP|Firm"
   Sun System Firmware 7.4.5 2012/12/11 23:49
   OBP 4.33.6.b 2012/12/11 20:51



 


Solution


The Firmware (OBP) and Solaris Patches, are two different pieces of software.

It is advisable to do a OBP (Firmware) update first, this to avoid any conflict with a Solaris Patch.
