GoalHow to configure the Virtual Storage Manager (VSM) to display Cluster Links (CLinks) and Real Tape Drive (RTD) names in the System Management Facility (SMF) reports? SolutionIf the customer requires names to be displayed in SMF records, then the following can be modified in the VSM.
1. In the VSM Detached Operator's Panel (DOP) click on Configuration. 2. Click on Channel Status and the Channel Status Panel will be displayed. 3. Under the name column, click on the section associated with the card and port or link. 4. In the name field, enter the desired name and click Continue to display a subscreen with the message success indicateing the configuration change completed successfully 5. Save the session and go back to the Channel Status Panel and modify the next port 6. Once finished, have the customer run the report and verify the names are displayed.
