Goal

Procedure to restart SL8500 managed by ACSLS in a controlled way after Power Fluctuation

Solution

1.Vary ACSLS offline
-------------------------------------------------------
ACSLS commands used are for versions of ACSLS below 7.3:

1.1. If maintenance is limited to just one ACS, and there are other ACS's in the configuration, make sure that no client application job is using any of its LSMs (and associated components thereof).

      Vary offline the ACS that needs to be worked on and verify that it's offline. In a cmd_proc session:
      ACSSA> vary acs <acs-id> offline

1.2. If the maintenance will affect all ACSs in the configuration, make sure that no client application is sending any library requests to ACSLS.  It is recommended to idle ACSLS first before bringing ACSLS down
      for the maintenance activity.  In a cmd_proc session:
      ACSSA>  idle

     The IDLE command will allow ACSLS to process outstanding requests from client applications before taking the library components offline.

     Bring ACSLS down. Issue these commands as user 'acsss':
     $  kill.acsss
     $  db_command stop

------------------------------------------------------
ACSLS commands used are for versions of ACSLS for 8.xxx:

1.3. ACSSA> vary acs <acs-id> offline --> for one ACS

1.4. If maintenance will affect all ACSs in the configuration, make sure that no client application is sending any library requests to ACSLS.
      $acsss disable
---------------------------------------------------------

Perform the library HW maintenance activity.

2.Power off card cage using the 4 white breakers on the card cage.

3.Wait 3 minutes

4.Power up the card cage using the 4 white breakers. Wait for the HBC to go green.

5.Hit the ERS/EPO switch (Red Button)  on the front of the SL8500 to kill rail power. Wait 30 seconds.

6.Hit the ERS/EPO switch (Red Button)  on the front of the SL8500 again to restore power to the rails and wait to see if the bots come online.

7.Vary ACSLS online
------------------------
ACSLS commands used are for versions of ACSLS below 7.3:

7.1. ACSSA> vary acs <acs-id> online --->for one ACS

7.2. start ACSLS:(if maintenance is affecting entire ACS)
      $  rc.acsss

ACSLS commands used are for versions of ACSLS for 8.xxx:

7.3. ACSSA> vary acs <acs-id> online --->for one ACS

7.4. Start ACSLS(If maintenance is affecting entire ACS)
      $ acsss enable
---------------------------

8.If the SL8500 doesn't come online.  Please document what is yellow, red and green in SLC.  Gather Log Snapshot for further diagnostics / troubleshooting.
