Goal

 Replace a 6 cell cartridge/tape array.

Solution

 DISPATCH INSTRUCTIONS

WHAT SKILLS DOES THE ENGINEER NEED:

Trained on Lxxx Oracle/STK Tape Library

TASK COMPLEXITY: 2

TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes

WHAT STATE SHOULD THE SYSTEM BE IN TO BE READY TO PERFORM THE RESOLUTION ACTIVITY? :

Library and drives must be taken offline by the customer.

WHAT ACTION DOES THE ENGINEER NEED TO TAKE:
1. Have the customer place the library and drives offline.
2. Open the front door to enter the library.
3. Remove the cartridge guide of the array cell that needs replacement by pressing the lower half and pulling out.
3. Firmly hold the cell array and slide it up to the top position and gently move it out.
4. Remove the 6-cell array from the library.
5. Align the new cell array in place and push it down until it is firmly latched.
6. Put back the cartridge guide into position.

OBTAIN CUSTOMER ACCEPTANCE

WHAT ACTION DOES THE CUSTOMER NEED TO TAKE TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO AN OPERATIONAL STATE:

Have customer bring the library and drives back on line.
